The Blues know what they have to do. While all the matches of the fourth day of the Six Nations Tournament have ended, in particular with the success of Ireland against England at Twickenham (32-15), the path to final victory appears clearly under the feet of the XV of France. Overview of the different possible scenarios.

France wins the Tournament if…

Undefeated during this 2022 edition, France will therefore win the tournament and will also achieve the Grand Slam if it beats England.

If the Blues fail to beat the XV de la Rose, several configurations can still guarantee them the final victory, depending on the result of Ireland earlier in the day. In the event of a draw between the French and the English, a similar result or a defeat of the XV of Clover ensures the coronation of the Blues.

If the French come to fall against England with at least one bonus (offensive or defensive), and Ireland does not do better than a draw without a bonus, the Blues also win the Tournament.

If the Blues lose without bonus, it will be necessary to count on a defeat of Ireland against Scotland without taking double bonus (only one would not be enough for the XV of Clover).

France loses the Tournament if…

France can be beaten at the post by the Irish if they lose against England and Johnny Sexton’s teammates dominate Scotland at the same time.

Finally, any configuration that would put the French and Irish on equal points would see the two teams be decided on the difference in points. A sector currently favorable to the Irish (+84 against +56).
