Style study | Audi dazzles with an electric family version of its A6

Despite its much more limited presence than that of SUVs, the station wagon still survives, supported by enthusiasts who appreciate its practicality coupled with more gripping handling. Audi is well aware of this and made a statement last week when it unveiled an all-electric styling study of its A6 wagon.

Named a little flatly Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept, it exposes the will of the brand with the rings to migrate the formula to an electric platform. But, well before dwelling on the technical considerations, it is necessary to underline its harmonious dress which makes evolve in a striking way the station wagon by means of a slender posture and a line of very profiled roof. For comparison purposes, it has a very similar footprint to the current A6 Allroad.

This study in style is built on the PPE modular electric chassis, the tailor-made framework for the luxury vehicles of the Volkswagen group. The chassis in this case incorporates two motors which provide traction by means of an all-wheel drive and which produce a total of 470 hp. The 0-100 km / h loop under 4 s.

The Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept dramatically evolves the station wagon with a slender stance and a very streamlined roofline.

In terms of range, Audi is advancing 700 km, according to the European WLTP protocol, which is more optimistic than North American measurements. Its impressive 100 kWh battery has an 800 V architecture and has a recharge capacity of up to 270 kW.

We know that the electric sedan livery of this A6 will be offered here, but it is still too early to decide on the arrival of this family version. Audi, however, already offers an A6 Allroad and the RS 6 high-performance livery in our market. This could probably guide the brand’s strategists to offer an electric wagon in these forms eventually. To be continued, then.
