The students have been confined since Thursday morning to the Aturri college in Saint-Pierre d’Irube, which welcomes 700 children south of Bayonne (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), reports France Bleu Pays Basque. “Two people would have entered” in the establishment, explains the sub-prefect of Bayonne, Philippe Le Moing-Surzur. A special safety plan (PPMS) was therefore triggered to ensure the protection of staff, teachers and students. The gendarmes were still intervening at 12:30 p.m.

The prefecture asks families not to go there but parents, worried, are present near the college. A telephone number has been set up by the national education services: 05.59.82.22.01. No student has been evacuated for the moment but some who returned for example from an activity at the swimming pool were stopped before returning to college, said the sub-prefect of Bayonne.
