Strong winds | Nearly 3,000 Quebec homes without electricity

(Montreal) Saturday’s strong winds, with gusts of 90 km/h, caused a lot of headaches for Hydro-Québec in the late afternoon and evening. About 70,000 customers were without power at the height of the outage around 7 p.m. when strong winds blew in southern Quebec.

Power was gradually restored in the evening. Nevertheless, just under 3,000 customers were still without power on Sunday afternoon.

According to data published by Hydro-Québec around 3:15 p.m., there were only 2,771 subscribers of the Crown corporation who were without power.

Other blackouts were listed in various regions, but to a lesser extent.

Since Saturday evening, Hydro-Québec teams have been working to restore service as quickly as possible.

The federal Ministry of Environment and Climate Change had forecast that winds would reach 90 km / h in many regions of Quebec on Saturday.

Around 8 p.m., the wind warning was lifted in the regions of Montreal, Laval, Montérégie and the Laurentians, then around 10 p.m. in the other regions.
