Strong winds: nearly 100,000 customers without electricity in Quebec

Nearly 100,000 customers are without power in Quebec on Friday evening due to strong winds.

The most affected regions are Montreal, the Laurentians, Montérégie, Lanaudière and Outaouais.

Hydro-Québec indicated on Twitter that its teams are mobilized on the ground to restore power.

In the Laurentians, nearly 70% of residents, or 24,950 customers, no longer have access to electricity. In Lanaudière, it is about 40% of clients.

In Montreal, approximately 30% of residents are affected by the outage, or 31,734 customers.

The violent winds, which blew up to 74 km/h in Montreal according to Environment Canada, caused several equipment breakdowns.

Recovery times vary from region to region. Hydro-Québec invites its customers to follow the status of the situation on its Info-pannes website.
