More than a thousand people attended the funeral of Thomas, killed at the age of 16 during a village festival. There was great emotion in front of the church of Crépol, in Drôme, on Friday November 24.
Friday, November 24 in the morning, it was time for silence and contemplation as the coffin of young Thomas entered the church. In the middle of a sad crowd, some boys wore the jerseys of the local rugby club. Thomas was their captain. The ceremony was broadcast outside using loudspeakers. The victim’s grandfather was the first to speak, his voice choked with sobs. “Thomas was a good boy, reserved, well-mannered and helpful”, he assured. And to add: “A gang of thugs who had a knife for his heart took his life.”
“We are all revolted”
In front of the church in Crépol (Drôme), a village of 500 inhabitants, there were more than a thousand people on Friday morning. “We are all outraged by what happened”, assures a woman present at the ceremony. A few kilometers away, the nine suspects are still being questioned by investigators. According to a source close to the investigation, the main suspect denies having dealt the fatal blow to Thomas.
