Strikes in the public sector | Quebec makes a settlement proposal to the FAE

(Quebec) Quebec submitted a settlement proposal to the Autonomous Education Federation (FAE) on Monday evening in the hope of putting an end to the strike of its 66,000 members in progress since November 23.

“We are committed to resolving quickly and this proposal demonstrates that. If this is accepted, it could make it possible to concretely improve services to students, the working conditions of teachers and would respond to the priority issues raised by the FAE. We hope for positive feedback from the union shortly,” says the president of the Treasury Board, Sonia LeBel, in a written statement.

In the lexicon of negotiations, a proposed settlement means that the government believes it has found a landing strip likely to satisfy the union.

More details to come.
