Wednesday, July 6, unions of the SNCF begin a strike which should bring its share of disturbances. Many trains are canceled as the holiday departure period begins.
It’s a strike that comes at a bad time for travellers. Wednesday, July 6 begins a strike that will last 24 hours at the SNCF. Unions are demanding wage increases to deal with inflation. In all stations, customers who were to take a train on Wednesday July 6 came to be reimbursed or exchange their tickets. Messages have been sent to travelers warning them that their journey could experience disruptions or even cancellations.
Few solutions exist for travelers affected by these strikes, but some have chosen to take an earlier train to arrive on time. However, the ticket is very expensive. “I had to take a train today instead of tomorrow because I’m working tomorrow. To return to Bordeaux, I paid 111 euros for my ticket”says a consumer. For those who are not lucky enough to find a train, they prefer buses to travel. Bus companies are organizing to receive a large influx of people.
