(Montreal) The strike in the CPEs where the workers are members of the Quebec Service Employees Union continues for a second day, Tuesday, while the CSQ reveals that 95% of people who voted on the advancement of the payment of increases educators’ salary rejected the offer.
The Federation of Early Childhood Intervenors, affiliated with the CSQ, announced last week, after Quebec announced that it was ready to increase now, in part, the salaries of early childhood educators, which it was going to keep. a “referendum” on this subject. The FIPEQ had opened this consultation to everyone, even to those who were not unionized at home.
On Tuesday, she said that at the end of this consultation, in which 2,200 workers spoke out, the proportion of rejection of the offer reached 95%.
This “referendum” has only a moral or consultative value, since it is not a formal vote on the offers of Quebec. Moreover, negotiations are continuing and the President of the Treasury Board, Sonia LeBel, indicated last week that her offer would be enhanced.
In addition, workers unionized with the SQEES, affiliated with the FTQ, are on their second consecutive day of strike, Tuesday, in several regions of Quebec.
They are thus following in the footsteps of other workers in early childhood centers who are members of unions attached to the CSN, the CSQ and the FTQ.
