(Montreal) Negotiations resume Thursday for thousands of workers in childcare centers, while a threat of strike still looms.
The Federation of Early Childhood Workers, affiliated with the CSQ, which made a counter-proposal to the government last Sunday, is still awaiting an official response.
If she does not see “significant progress” at the negotiating table on Thursday, she will announce other days of strike action in the early childhood centers that she represents.
But in an interview on Wednesday, the president of the FIPEQ, Valérie Grenon, maintained that the parties would be able to settle on Thursday. She argues that the FIPEQ has already “adjusted” its initial demands.
The FIPEQ-CSQ has a six-day strike mandate. It used one, in the form of a rotating strike affecting a few regions at a time.
For its part, the Federation of Health and Social Services, affiliated to the CSN, has already announced other days of strike on November 2, 3 and 4. In his case too, negotiations are continuing with Quebec.
