Strike against Hells-linked traffickers: latest suspect apprehended

An alleged drug trafficker in the pay of the Hells Angels who managed to escape the police operation carried out on Wednesday, in the Sorel-Tracy region, in Montérégie, was finally apprehended by the police on Thursday.

François Gamelin, 41, of Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel, was arrested Thursday afternoon in the MRC Pierre-De Saurel and is expected to appear by videoconference in the coming hours.

Eight of his associates were pinned early Wednesday morning during a police strike targeting a criminal drug trafficking network, during which the member in good standing of the Hells Angels Serge Lebrasseur, 59, was arrested.

The investigation into this file had been initiated in November 2020 and a series of searches had been carried out in the Sorel-Tracy region in the spring of 2021.

These led to the seizure of 6.3 kg of cannabis, more than 12,000 methamphetamine tablets, six firearms, 14 cell phones, $220,000 in cash, as well as “items bearing the image of outlaw motorcycle gangs”.

Wednesday’s wave of arrests was the final phase of this investigation, dubbed “Quincajou.”

All of the apprehended suspects now face multiple narcotics charges.
