Stretched Knee Ligament | Kevin Durant sidelined indefinitely

(New York) Kevin Durant stretched the medial collateral ligament in his left knee, depriving the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA’s leading scorer — just when they could finally count on their famous “Big Three”.

Durant was injured in the Nets’ win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday when teammate Bruce Brown fell backward on his knee. Durant underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test on Sunday which confirmed the severity of the injury.

The Nets said Durant should fully recover from the injury after a period of rehabilitation, but did not specify how long it would last.

The Nets were hoping to finally field Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving, who can’t play at home because he hasn’t been vaccinated against the coronavirus — a New York City bylaw says all professional athletes must be vaccinated to play in public places.

The “Big Three” only played two games together, and the Nets won both games.

Durant is averaging 29.3 points per game.
