Faced with the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases, the authorities have decided to strengthen controls in restaurants and bars to ensure that customers have a health pass.
In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), several police officers were deployed in a fast food restaurant near the Vélodrome stadium. Their objective was to control the sanitary passes of the customers. And the police were quick to find an offending consumer. The man was fined 135 euros. The manager of the establishment had not checked the health pass of all his customers.
The manager was therefore fined, and a formal notice was given to him, ie a warning from the prefecture. In the event of a new offense, the manager risks a fine of up to 9,000 euros. In Marseille, as elsewhere, checks have been increasing in recent days. The authorities also note a certain relaxation on the side of restaurateurs. “We could see, lately, that there had been more formal notices and more establishments which did not respect the regulations”, indicates Céline Cance, the commissioner in charge of the operation. In the week of Monday, November 8, 35 infringements were found on the 3,500 restaurants and cafes in France checked. Five establishments had to close.
