Karine Vanasse and Patrice Robitaille will star in ruthe film adaptation of the eponymous novel by Kim Thúy.

The shooting of the feature film directed by Charles-Olivier Michaud (Neither do I, Can you hear me ?) will begin on Sunday and stretch through April 13.
A few additional days of filming are also planned for June, reports a press release issued by Amalga, the film’s production company.
Written by Jacques Davidts (The parents, Guys), ru tells the story of a young Vietnamese girl who flees her country in the midst of war to take refuge in Quebec, where several challenges await her, including learning a new language.
The film will mark the screen debut of Chloé Djandji, the heroine of the work. His mother will be played by Chantal Thuy (Nguyen), his father Jean Bui (Minh), his brothers Olivier Dinh (Quôc) and Xavier Nguyen (Duc).
The foster family will be defended by Karine Vanasse (mother), Patrice Robitaille (father), Mali Corbeil Gauvreau (daughter), Marie-Thérèse Fortin (maternal grandmother) and Richard Fréchette (paternal grandfather) .
