Street gangs and gun violence | A man arrested and a firearm seized in Laval

A man in his thirties linked to street gangs and involved in a conflict dating back several years was arrested by Laval police after a firearm was seized.

It was the Equinoxe squad of the Laval Police Service (SPL) and agents from the organized crime intervention division (DICO) who seized the firearm and arrested the suspect.

On October 21, during a visit to an establishment in the Pont-Viau district of Laval, Kevin Duroseau was quickly identified. He was wanted in a death threats case.

The suspect was wearing a bulletproof jacket and was in possession of a prohibited bladed weapon at the time of his arrest. “As they were about to release the suspect, the officers also seized a firearm, seen in the suspect’s vehicle. It was a 9 mm caliber Glock pistol,” specifies the police force.

Involved in conflict, police say

Kevin Duroseau is considered by the authorities to be a member of a Saint-Michel street gang, the “Plan Robert”. This group is currently involved in a violent conflict with other sectors, according to our police sources. Street tensions linked to this gang go back several years. Duroseau was also involved in 2015 in a conflict between two gangs linked to housing complexes, Plan Robert in Saint-Michel, and Plan Bellechasse, in Rosemont.

The 30-year-old man is currently charged with possession of a restricted firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon (spring knife) and occupying a vehicle in which a restricted weapon was present. He remains detained following his appearance. His case will return to the Court of Quebec on November 15.
