The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) indicates that it arrested 12 suspects, including nine minors, on Thursday during operations “aimed at promoting security around two secondary schools” in Montreal.

Four suspects aged 15 to 20 were arrested around 9:20 p.m. “as part of an investigation targeting a criminal street gang in Anjou,” reads a statement from the police force. A firearm, ammunition, as well as “burglary tools and other evidence” were also seized during searches.

Two of the four suspects apprehended remain in custody and are expected to appear late Friday, while the other two have been released with court dates. Several counts are brought against the band, in particular in connection with the possession of firearms, the negligent use of a firearm, the possession of tools of burglary as well as an attempted theft of a vehicle, says Raphaël Bergeron, SPVM media relations officer.

Eight minors were arrested at a high school in Ahuntsic–Cartierville around 8:30 a.m. “in connection with extortion, harassment and intimidation of a student,” reads the communicated. “Two of the apprehended suspects remain in custody pending appearance. »

“The social and community officer of neighborhood station 10 and the school administration took care to offer support to the victim and will continue to do so,” notes the police force.
