They are domestic animals, but stray cats can live without an owner and on the street. A couple can produce up to 20,000 offspring. So, the men organize to stop the invasion by capturing the felines to sterilize them.

In Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois (Loiret), an entire neighborhood has become the territory of stray cats in just a few years. An invasion with its share of nuisances for local residents: a razed garden, animals found under the hood of cars and which even venture into houses. The small town of 1,000 inhabitants has nearly 150 stray cats. Among them, many animals abandoned after confinement, or which were born in the wild.

Sterilization, an essential gesture

To try to curb their proliferation, hundreds of municipalities are launching capture operations. North of Rouen (Seine-Maritime), for almost two years, a team has been hunting around forty felines. They captured a very agitated young female, neither chipped nor sterilized. The next day, she will be received in a partner clinic of the association to be sterilized. An essential gesture in many ways. Too wild to be adopted, the little female was released to return to the 11 million stray cats in our country.
