Strasbourg takes height

Even OGC Nice, the best defense in Ligue 1 this season, will not have managed to contain the Strasbourg enthusiasm. The RCSA easily won, Sunday, December 5, at the Allianz Riviera against the Aiglons overtaken (3-0) and this, thanks to its fiery attack. Four days after their great home success against Bordeaux (5-2), the Strasbourg residents confirmed their status as the second best attack in the championship behind Paris Saint-Germain, with 34 goals scored in 17 matches.

This average of two goals per game, Julien Stéphan owes it above all to his attacking duo Ludovic Ajorque-Habib Diallo. Behind Jonathan David, top scorer in the championship with 11 goals, are now the two Strasbourgers, Ajorque with nine goals (tied with Wissam Ben Yedder and Gaëtan Laborde) and Diallo with eight. Ajorque was the first to stand out on the lawn of the Allianz Riviera, well served by Ibrahima Sissoko (21st), after the first twenty minutes totally mastered by Strasbourg.

Opposite, the Niçois of French champion Christophe Galtier confirmed their recent difficulties in offering coherent content to their supporters, despite this huge opportunity wasted by Andy Delort (45th). While the Aiglons pushed in the second half to try to get back to height, the Strasbourg managed to close the proceedings in the space of two minutes.

After Ajorque, it was his accomplice in the attack, Habib Diallo, who stood out, pushing the ball into empty goals after a strike from Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (82nd). Two minutes later, the Senegalese served Adrien Thomasson perfectly for the third Strasbourg goal (84th). What puzzled Christophe Galtier in his technical area at the edge of the lawn, he who saw his team chain a third consecutive defeat at home.

The Aiglons will remain 4th at the end of this 17th day but see the RCSA come back to one point. Astonishing 6th in the championship, the Strasbourgers can claim to aim higher. “It is true that we are in a good phase, we have a series of good matches. It’s good for us, we will continue to titillate the big guys but we are not going to do anything. We are ambitious without being pretentious“, said Ibrahima Sissoko after the meeting at the microphone of Canal +. A good summary of the Strasbourg state of mind of the moment.
