It’s already over between Strasbourg and its coach Frédéric Antonetti. In a press release published on Tuesday June 27, the Alsatian club announced that it had separated from its coach “from a common agreement”, a week after the announcement of the takeover of the club by the American consortium BlueCo, which also owns the Chelsea club.

Arrived on the Alsatian bench on February 14 to replace Mathieu Le Scornet, who had been acting since the departure of Julien Stéphan, the Corsican technician had pulled the RCSA out of a very worrying situation. He had thus ended up obtaining the maintenance of Strasbourg in Ligue 1 in 15 games (6 wins, 4 draws, 5 losses)guiding the club to 15th place.

“Frédéric had a mission and he fulfilled it perfectly.said Strasbourg President Mark Keller in the press release published by the club. The season has been tough and we have allowed ourselves some time to breathe. He did a very good job and I want to thank him. But a new cycle is starting and I am convinced that it is better to stop on this good note. We both agree. I therefore recorded this decision and informed the new shareholder, who ratified it.”

Frédéric Antonetti for his part thanked the club and the supporters before his departure. “A new era is dawning with the arrival of new investors who will provide the club with new resources. In this changing Ligue 1, which is undergoing profound upheavals, I wish them much success. The people of Strasbourg deserve it.”
