The trial into the Strasbourg Christmas market attack opens on Thursday February 29. The victims testify to this night which changed their lives.

On December 11, 2018, Vanina and Fabrice Reysz went out as a family to the Christmas market in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), before it was the victim of a terrorist attack. “I see a shadow passing in front of me, he turns around and shoots me in the face. I was in pain and losing a lot of blood.”, remembers Fabrice Reysz, survivor of the attack. Hospitalized in critical condition, he was saved by doctors, who managed to extract the bullet from his neck after hours of operation.

Everything changed in a few seconds

Six years after the tragedy, he was almost able to return to his previous life, but the trauma is still present. “In our misfortune, we were lucky, we were a family of four and there are still four of us”, assures Vanina Reysz. Together, they will be present at the trial of the Strasbourg attack to testify, to tell the story of this freezing night where their lives changed in a few seconds.
