The ring of the landscape architect Claude Cormier is not yet installed that we already imagine the great photos we can take on the esplanade of Place Ville Marie.

We are delighted with this distinctive mark which will give punch to McGill College Avenue while allowing a unique view of Mount Royal, one of the jewels of the metropolis.

We are not often right to be proud of the beauty of Montreal.

And we can’t blame the City for doing too much in terms of public art. When we think of Chicago, yes we think of Kapoor’s Cloud Gate (the famous mirror bean), but there is so much more. There are works of art on almost every street corner in the city center, which makes the visit absolutely unforgettable.

The proof is well established: art is important and beauty contributes to our well-being and our quality of life.

Ask the people of Quebec if they are proud of their city and they suddenly turn into peacocks, and rightly so.

The 5 million bill, most of which comes from private funds? A modest sum when you consider the effect that this ring, 30 meters in diameter, will have on the visibility of Montreal. We are likely to see it appear on many Instagram accounts over the next few years.

Just as the Village’s defunct multicolored balls delighted Montrealers and tourists, Cormier’s new work is a strong gesture that already excites us.
