(New York) Donald Trump’s lawyers are urging the judge in the New York case of the secret payment to Stormy Daniels to overturn his conviction and dismiss the case following the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity.
The former president’s lawyers wrote in documents made public Thursday that prosecutors rushed to try Trump in April and May, while the high court was still considering his immunity requests.
Rather than wait for guidance from the Supreme Court, prosecutors arrogantly mocked President Trump’s immunity requests and insisted on rushing to trial.

“Your Honour now has the power to remedy these injustices, and the court has a duty to do so in light of the Supreme Court’s decision,” they added.
Trump was originally scheduled to be sentenced Thursday, but sentencing is on hold until trial judge Juan M. Merchan rules on whether to overturn the former president’s conviction for falsifying records to cover up a potential sex scandal.
Judge Merchan said he would rule on the defense’s request on September 6 and sentence Trump on September 18, “if that is still necessary.” Prosecutors have until July 24 to respond to the defense’s arguments.
