This Sunday, at the end of the 4th day of Ligue 1, PSG experienced their first setback against Monaco (1-1). The Parisians, however, retain the lead in the championship ahead of Marseille, carried by their star striker Alexis Sanchez against Nice (3-0). Lens is 3rd in the standings, ahead of Lyon, who could not do better than a draw against Reims (1-1).
First hitch for Paris
Ultra-dominant in the French championship since the start of the season, Paris Saint-Germain conceded their first points on Sunday, held in check by Monaco, who played a solid score. ASM offered an almost flawless block after Kevin Volland’s opener in the 19th minute. Only a penalty from Neymar in the 69th minute, which Kylian Mbappé left him two weeks after the controversy over the choice of shooter, allowed the capital club to remain undefeated and retain the lead in Ligue 1.
Tudor’s OM sublimated by Sanchez, Nice already in danger
Before that, Olympique de Marseille had taken the lead of the League by crushing Nice 3-0, a year after the serious incidents which had caused the stoppage between the two teams. During this meeting played under very close police surveillance and without Olympian supporters, banned from traveling, OM won thanks to a double from their new star Alexis Sanchez. Dimitri Payet, target of projectiles last year, took his revenge and celebrated his return to Igor Tudor’s starting lineup, with the added bonus of the captain’s armband.
For Nice, the state of emergency has already been declared. The club, owned by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, cannot come to terms with the departure of its coach Christophe Galtier and Lucien Favre cannot find a solution.
Lyon trapped in Reims, Nantes freed
OL had started the season perfectly, but conceded a first draw at Reims (1-1). Unrecognizable, the troops of Peter Bosz were very deficient technically, failing to control Rémois yet outnumbered from the 63rd minute. Lyon still managed to limit the breakage on a header from Moussa Dembélé in the 86th minute. A serious warning for OL, which has just come out of a completely failed season and without European qualification.
Without success since the start of the season, Nantes put an end to its scarcity by overcoming Toulouse at La Beaujoire (3-1). The promoted Toulouse (10th) is experiencing an end to the series, suffering his first setback since his return to the elite.
Lens stands out, second success for Auxerre, Strasbourg at a standstill
Lens is now third in the league, having provisionally taken the lead in Ligue 1 on Saturday. The Northerners overcame Rennes (2-1) at the Bollaert stadium. Also on Saturday, Auxerre for its part chained with a second success in a row against Strasbourg (1-0) which gives it air. The affairs of Strasbourg, still without a win in four games, are however seriously complicated.
Lille bounces back, Ajaccio in bad shape
Friday, at the start of the day, Lille had rebounded well after the slap received at home against PSG (7-1). The Northerners (4th) won in Ajaccio (3-1), already in bad shape after this 3rd setback (18th).
