“Stop, stop!”, Miss Guyana, first runner-up to Ève Gilles, embarrassed to be compared to Beyoncé

Saturday December 16, 2023, TF1 viewers were more than seven million in front of their television sets to watch the coronation of the new Miss France. Indeed, at the end of the ceremony presented for more than 25 years by Jean-Pierre Foucault, it was ultimately Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Ève Gilles, who won the coveted scarf… A moment of joy for the 20-year-old young woman who attracted the attention of Internet users from the start of the evening.

The reason ? In addition to being the smallest in the competition, the second year MIASHS degree student (mathematics and computer science applied to the human and social sciences) was also the only regional miss to display a short haircut on the Dijon Zenith stage.

A difference that was not unanimous… Following the coronation of Ève Gilles, the latter was unfortunately the target of cyberharassment from Internet users. Online attacks which intensified when the summary of the results of the 77th edition of Miss France saw the light of day. And for good reason, it is the first runner-up of Miss France 2023, Miss Guyana, who won the favor of viewers…

As proof, during an interview given to the media Guyane La 1ère on December 31, 2023, the latter was invited to respond to several tweets about her performance during the first painting. “You saw Beyoncé in front, aka Miss Guyana”she notably read before being embarrassed by such a comparison.

“Stop, stop…”, she said. And to add: “No, but I was honestly so happy to be in front during the opening performance. Plus on Beyoncé… At rehearsals, I was really in heaven. I was like: ‘Ah I’m going to die‘. I was motivated to take the crown. It’s so cute that people saw this motivation. Despite everything, I think we can say that I was a Miss who put on an exceptional show.”
