(Quebec) A Stoneham man who described himself as a “redneck” and used social networks to share pyrotechnic experiments in his wood stove, was arrested Tuesday by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Dominic Pelletier, 42, shared several videos on Facebook where he can be seen throwing various explosive products into the fire, including what looks like a homemade bomb or even butane canisters.
According to FM93 and a status from Pelletier himself, the man was behind the Facebook page “Les crinqué du Québec (sic)”. The page, followed by 11,000 people, describes itself as follows: “All for the pleasure of laughing with seasoned rednecks”.
In one video, the man is seen putting a homemade bomb in his wood stove. The device explodes and the chimney erupts.
SQ police officers conducted a search of Mr. Pelletier’s home on Tuesday. They seized “propane, homemade bombs and materials that could be used to make explosive substances,” said Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the police service.
The man appeared Tuesday at the Quebec courthouse. He faces charges of failing to comply with probation conditions, several others related to possession of explosive substances and having “performed an act with the intent to cause the explosion of an explosive substance, which is likely cause serious bodily harm or death to any person, or cause serious damage to property.”
Tuesday’s search required the presence of several police officers, major crimes investigators and a dog handler.
