Stolen vehicle | Two minors arrested after a large police chase

Two minors with extensive criminal records were arrested Saturday after escaping authorities during a police chase, all with a stolen vehicle.

This all happened early Saturday, around 4 a.m. The Régie intermunicipale de police Thérèse-De-Blainville (RIPTB) first shared information with several other police services about the theft of a vehicle on its territory.

It was ultimately the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) who located the vehicle, which was on Highway 15 South, in the Mirabel sector.

When the patrol officers activated their sirens, the driver of the car sped off, committing various infractions. A police chase then began, indicates Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, of the SQ.

“They first went down towards Montreal, then they took Highway 640 to Highway 13, then took Highway 20 West and finally exited in the Dorval sector,” detailed the spokesperson. .

At this point, the vehicle was lost from sight due to heavy traffic. Several other police forces were made aware of the situation, so that the Laval Police Service (SPL) shortly after located the vehicle a second time, as well as one of the two suspects who was walking near the stolen vehicle. No collisions occurred during the pursuit.

The two young people were then arrested. They have a long history and “were also prohibited from contacting each other,” said Sergeant Bilodeau. The suspects also had probation or order conditions to respect, and one of the two had a curfew on his record.

The duo should now face several separate charges, including dangerous driving, fleeing, receiving stolen property and failing to comply with conditions. The appearances were scheduled for this Saturday, by videoconference.
