Bus drivers denounce that negotiations with the STL to renew their collective agreement are stagnating.

“The purpose of this mobilization of Laval drivers is to ensure the sustainability of the public transport service in our municipality and a satisfactory settlement for the members. Unfortunately, the salary offers made by the employers, in an inflationary context, will only impoverish the members, ”said Patrick Lafleur, president of the STL drivers’ union, in a press release.

Several aspects are at the heart of the discussions at the bargaining table, including bus routes when demand is not sufficient, schedules and employee salaries.

Patrick Lafleur believes that public transit in Laval should be a priority in the context of climate change. “It is well documented that if the public transport offer decreases, the clientele turns to the car and in a perspective of sustainable development in Laval, it is necessary to bet on the collective transport”, evokes it, in the same document.

Bus drivers picket in front of the STL offices on Saturday, and will demonstrate in front of Carrefour Laval on Sunday.
