Canadian Steven Dubois won the silver medal in the 1500 meters in short track speed skating on Wednesday at the Beijing Olympics
Dubois, from Terrebonne, extended his blade at the finish to edge out Russian Olympic Committee athlete Semen Elistratov and finish second. The officials also needed to consult the photo-finish to decide between the two.
It was South Korean Daeheon Hwang who triumphed with a time of two minutes, 09.129 seconds.
Dubois, 24, stopped the clock at 2:09.254, 13 thousandths of a second ahead of Elistratov.
Charles Hamelin of St-Julie, who was chasing a sixth Olympic medal, failed to qualify for the final.
