Steven Butler was surely tired of hearing that this was a decisive fight for the rest of his career and he pulverized Steve Rolls in 65 seconds on Thursday at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal.
After placing a violent right to the head of Rolls (22-4, 12 KOs), Butler (34-4-1, 28 KOs) followed up with several lefts before referee Yvon Goulet fails to intervene.
Clearly knocked out, Rolls was sitting on the cables as he took this volley of blows. We had to put him back on his stool: he could no longer stand on his legs.
Butler immediately went to the neutral corner, climbing the cables to greet the crowd.
In the ring, his team, including promoter Camille Estephan, who has managed his career since his professional debut more than 10 years ago, was all smiles.
Butler needed a spectacular victory to return to important fights, he could not do better than the performance offered in front of his family.
He who left the world top-15 after his clear defeat against Zhanibek Alumkhanuly last May, could only be one fight away from returning there and aspiring to a minor title.
That’s certainly what the middleweight and his new trainer, John Scully, who was in his corner for a second fight, want.
A perfect association so far, with two victories by knockout.
