A new challenge for the Doubs baker. Stéphane Ravacley, 53, who made himself known to the general public in January 2021 by leading a ten-day hunger strike for the regularization of his Guinean apprentice, announced on Friday May 6 that he had been invested by EELV for the legislative elections on 12th and 19th June next.

The hunger strike of this craftsman from Besançon, widely publicized, had allowed the isolated minor, Laye Fode Traore, deprived of a residence permit on his majority, to be finally regularized by the prefecture of Haute-Saône in the process. More recently, Stéphane Ravacley has also been talked about by organizing a humanitarian convoy to Ukraine.

Stephane Ravacley announced in April its “candidacy citizen” in the second constituency of Doubs, calling in particular on the left-wing parties to support him in the name of “the addition of the lefts”. Initially supported by the Socialist Party, he was finally invested, Thursday, by Europe Ecology-The Greens, to which this constituency was assigned within the framework of the New People’s Ecological and Social Union (Nupes). “I asked for the union of the left, I’ve been calling for it since day one; it’s a union on the left that came at the right time”welcomed the craftsman to AFP.

But Stéphane Ravacley, who says he cares about his independence, has announced that he does not intend to join the ecologist party. On the other hand, the baker assures that he will sit with the EELV group in the National Assembly, if he is elected. He will notably face the outgoing Renaissance (ex-LREM) deputy, Eric Alauzet, candidate for his re-election, and who had been the best elected deputy in France in 2017, with 62.19% of the vote.
