Stéphane Plaza will be tried before the Paris criminal court at the end of summer 2024 for suspicion of domestic violence against two women, the Paris prosecutor’s office told franceinfo on Thursday March 14.

The prosecution details that Stéphane Plaza is suspected of “habitual violence by a partner leading to incapacity for work for more than eight days (physical and psychological), committed against a woman between August 2018 and April 2022” and of “habitual violence by a partner resulting in incapacity for work of more than eight days (psychological), committed to the detriment of another woman between December 2021 and September 2022”.

Stéphane Plaza was placed under judicial supervision following the hearing before the judge of freedoms and detention, franceinfo learned from a source close to the case on Thursday. The facilitator is prohibited from contacting the complainants, by any means whatsoever. An obligation of care was also imposed as part of this judicial review.

The M6 host has been in police custody since Tuesday in a Paris police station. He is the target of an investigation for domestic violence after complaints from at least two ex-partners. The investigation was opened after the publication by Mediapart in September of testimonies from three ex-partners of the real estate agent, who denounced “humiliation, threats, verbal and, for two of them, physical violence”. Two of these women then wrote to the Paris prosecutor’s office to accuse Stéphane Plaza of “violence committed” during their relationship, the prosecution indicated in October. The host disputes the facts with which he is accused.
