Stéphane Bern in deep grief: one of his relatives died

This is very sad news that has just been announced by AFP. This Tuesday, November 15, 2022, the creator of the show Masterpieces in danger Pierre de Lagarde died at the age of 90.

It was in Paris that Pierre de Lagarde was born. After graduating from Lycée Louis-le-Grand, he did graduate studies in Law, Letters and Philosophy. His passion for heritage arose as a teenager, he who liked to criss-cross France to visit churches or even castles. Over time, safeguarding this heritage has become one of its missions. After beginning his career as a journalist at the ORTF, Spoken Newspaperhe created his cult show Masterpieces in dangerfirst on the radio and then on television on the public channel Antenne 2. Between 1962 and 1974, he thus saved more than one hundred and fifty monuments from ruin.

That’s not all ! From 1964 to 1992, Pierre de Lagarde organized a national competition as part of his broadcasts to publicize and reward the most deserving monument rescuers. He also launched the magazine Monuments in danger in 1971, of which he was editor-in-chief for five fine years. At the same time, he devoted himself to writing books devoted to heritage, but also on literary and religious themes that he was also very fond of. He also received the Prize of the French Academy for The memory of stones and the European Literary Prize for The Great Duel.

Stéphane Bern knew him well

His passion and his love allowed him to be made a Knight of the Legion of Honor and a Knight of Arts and Letters. He also received the Unesco Media / Art Prize in 1991. So many projects and awards that he leaves in everyone’s minds, when he joined the stars on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

His worthy successor Stéphane Bern knew him well. He had also paid him a fine tribute in the foreword to his book Heritage lovers dictionary released in 2019 by Plon editions. A book he published with his son, journalist Olivier de Lagarde. This death therefore leaves the companion of Yori Bailleres in terrible grief, as well as the other relatives of Pierre de Lagarde.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint Jean-Baptiste de La Salle church, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. The next day the burial will take place at 3 p.m. in Azolette (Rhône).
