Stellantis will produce the electric Dodge Charger at the Windsor, Ontario plant

(Windsor) Stellantis says the electric Dodge Charger will be built at the Windsor, Ontario assembly plant.

The automaker says the electric version marks the arrival of the next generation of Dodge muscle cars.

Stellantis said in November that the plant would install new battery electric capacity as part of a three-year collective agreement with Unifor.

The union wanted commitments on electric vehicle manufacturing before agreeing to the deal, which is expected to restore three-shift operation at the Windsor plant.

At the time, the company estimated its investment in the factory at 1.89 billion.

Stellantis’ Windsor plant currently produces hybrid and gasoline versions of the Pacifica minivan, among other vehicles.

Two-door versions of the electric Charger will be available mid-year, while production of the gasoline-powered cars is expected to begin next year.

The automaker says its electric vehicles will help Stellantis reduce its global carbon footprint by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero carbon by 2038.
