One of the spokespersons for the composites opposed to the sanitary measures, Steeve Charland, was arrested Sunday by the Ottawa police in connection with the demonstrations which paralyzed for three weeks the downtown area of the capital.
The former leader of the identity group La Meute was arrested shortly before noon in the Vankleek Hill region, on the border with Quebec. He has since been detained.
He is due in court today to face charges of mischief and counseling others to commit the offense of mischief, according to a statement from the Ottawa Police Service.
