Start of appointment scheduling for COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11

Parents who wish to have their child aged 5 to 11 vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible can make an appointment now on the Clic Santé platform.

In some places it was possible to get an appointment as early as Wednesday at a vaccination center.

Prime Minister François Legault must give more details on the vaccination of children in this age group at the end of the day, Tuesday.

Quebec wants the most children in this age group to be vaccinated before Christmas. The Quebec Immunization Committee recommends an interval of eight weeks between the two doses.

In Quebec, children aged 5 to 11 will be able to be vaccinated in vaccination centers and in schools. Schools were still awaiting the green light from the CIUSSS and CISSS on Monday to organize their vaccination operation.

Health Canada confirmed last week that it was authorizing the use of the children’s version of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine.

The federal government had already secured the delivery of 2.9 million doses for children aged 5 to 11, enough for a first dose for all Canadian children in that age group. Pfizer delivered the first doses on Sunday.
