After Fantastic Mr. Fox in 2009, filmmaker Wes Anderson will bring another writing by novelist Roald Dahl to the screen, namely The wonderful story of Henry Sugar, reports the Collider website.
The film will star British actor Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of the Dog) in the title role and will be released by Netflix, which Wes Anderson will be working with for the first time.
The story is that of an individual, Henry Sugar, a fan of gambling who, learning of the existence of a man capable of seeing without having his eyes open, approaches him in the hope of cheating at cards and get rich.
Wes Anderson’s most recent film, The French Dispatch, was released in the fall of 2021 in Quebec. He already has another completed film, Asteroid City which stars Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson and Margot Robbie and set for release in the coming months.
The shooting of The wonderful story of Henry Sugar should start shortly in London. Other than Benedict Cumberbatch, no other cast name has been revealed.
Finally, remember that Roald Dahl is also the author of the novel Charlie and the chocolate factory adapted for the big screen in 2005 by Tim Burton.
