Star Trek continues to expand its universe on the small screen

A Star Trek series that will follow the progress of young Starfleet Academy recruits will be released in 2024 on the Paramount+ channel.


The series will therefore focus around a group of young cadets who will learn the basics necessary to become Starfleet officers. “Friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy threatening both the Academy and the Federation itself” will be at the heart of the new series, according to the Paramount press release.

The project has been on the table since 2018, but the creative team has since been completely renewed. According variety, the first episode will now be written by writer and executive producer Gaia Violo, who will be joined in production by Aaron Baiers, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber. Alex Kurtzman, head of the Star Trek universe at Paramount, will also be a producer, in addition to being director of the series with Noga Landau.
