Stand-up snowmobiles now available in store

The new stand-up snowmobiles officially launched a year ago by a Saguenay company are now available on the market.

However, the first units were delivered late by Widescape.

Vehicles made in Asia were stuck at the Port of Montreal in January because they did not meet a specific Transport Canada requirement.

Widescape redid their homework and successfully rose to the challenge of finding a solution that met the standards. A cushion has been added to the back of the driving platform.

The company’s general manager, Christian Chantal, understands the disappointment of customers who hoped to enjoy their new toy during the winter. He admits that some of them preferred to cancel their order, but according to him, this is a minority.

“We challenge the industry standards that have been in place for decades,” said Mr. Chantal.

The machine intended for off-road enthusiasts has aroused curiosity. The Widescape is available from approximately 60 Canadian retailers.

The concept developed in Saguenay will attempt to make a breakthrough in the United States in the coming months.
