(Calgary) The Calgary Stampeders have granted a contract extension to star kicker Rene Paredes.

Paredes could have become a free agent next month, but instead decided to return to the Stampders, the team with which he spent 10 seasons and won two Gray Cups.
Stampeders president and CEO John Hufnagel said in a statement that Paredes has consistently proven himself to be one of the most reliable kickers in the Canadian Football League.
“We are happy to have him back for another season,” Hufnagel said.
Paderes led the CFL with 155 points in 15 games in the 2021 season. He had 44 of 48 field goal attempts and 23 of 24 TD converts. He became the 10and player in league history to score 400 career field goals.
After a successful college career at Concordia, Paredes signed with the Blue Bombers in 2011. He was released by the team after the preseason schedule.
He regained his composure in Calgary, where he has been playing since this misadventure.
“Calgary is my home,” Paredes said in a statement. My family and I are excited to be back and continue my football career with this amazing organization. »
