Japan had already been hosted in 2017 by Stade Toulousain. Relations are good since a partnership exists and allowed two players to go into development in the Yamaha Jubilo franchise at the time. For the Rugby World Cup in 2023, the Japanese will take advantage of the facilities at Ernest-Wallon to prepare for the two group matches they are to play at the Stadium.
“The inhabitants of Stade Toulousain”
“There clearly, they will become the inhabitants of Stade Toulousain. The Top 14 will stop for the entire period of the World Cup. We will leave them the keys, it will allow them to use all the spaces. And we will perhaps take the opportunity to go to their place to experience an adventure and a preparation course. We don’t see it as a constraint. It’s a nice exchange and a notion of trust.”explains Jérôme Cazalbou, the high level manager at Stade Toulousain at the microphone of France Bleu Occitanie.
Stade Toulousain would like to play a friendly match in Japan during this possible training period in Asia.
Toulouse at the heart of the World Cup
The Toulouse Stadium will host five Rugby World Cup matches in the fall of 2023, including two from Japan and one from the All Blacks. On November 19, the XV of France will come to play a test match against Japan. The ticket office should be open during the month of June.
