We knew that this match between the Red Star and Stade Lavallois could be tense in the stands. And there were unfortunately incidents during this meeting this Friday, January 7 at the Bauer stadium in Saint-Ouen. Shortly before 7 p.m., when the score was still 0 to 0, individuals attacked Mayenne supporters who had made the trip according to several concordant testimonies.
One of the Stade Lavallois supporters concerned by the attack told the microphone of France Bleu Mayenne: “we were assaulted in the 25th minute of the match by five to six individuals. About ten of us were installed in the western part of the stand (the Red Star kop is positioned to the east, editor’s note) to sing and encourage our team. Two of my comrades were injured, others received only light blows. Everything happened very, very quickly, a few seconds. One of the supporters has a broken tooth and bruises.“The banner displayed by Laval supporters would also have been torn off by individuals.
The two most affected people were taken care of by members of the Civil Protection present on site at the Bauer stadium. According to the various testimonies collected, it appears that the stewards did not intervene immediately but that they then ensured the safety of the Laval supporters for the rest and the end of the match.
At the end of the match, the Laval supporters of this small group were protected and then escorted by officials of the National Police to secure places.
The Red Star club explains that it had warned and in particular recommended to Laval supporters not to deploy a banner or clearly display their colors.
