Stade Lavallois carried out a very good operation by winning at the 4th, Bourg-en-Bresse, 2-1. Mayenne footballers opened the scoring in the first period through Julien Maggiotti. A nice shot following a pass from Jordan Adeoti. If Maggiotti scored his sixth goal of the season there, it was a first, however, for Ryan Ferhaoui. The midfielder allowed Laval to double the lead at the very end of the first period.
Durbant’s red card
From the start of the second period, it was a cold shower for Laval with the direct red card Geoffray Durbant. A high foot sanctioned because the Bourg defender who was fighting for the ball, Mouyokolo, was bleeding. For the coach, Olivier Frapolli, the red is acceptable but the coach has once again made sure that the sanction is not the same for everyone, referring to the fault of Thomas Robinet on Alexis Sauvage during the match in Châteauroux, two weeks ago. The Laval top scorer will miss the next two or three matches depending on the sanction imposed by the FFF disciplinary committee.
At ten against eleven, Stade Lavallois resisted very well. The Burgiens closed the gap but only five minutes from the end. The Mayenne defense then held until the end of added time.
Thanks to this historic success in Ain, Stade Lavallois is increasing its lead at the head of National. Never before had Laval counted so much ahead of its immediate pursuer (5 points on Annecy). The Tangos will host Sedan on Monday 4 April.
The reaction
Laval coach Olivier Frapolli was happy with this away victory despite a stressful end to the game.
