The match of the 12th day of Ligue 1 between Brest and Strasbourg cannot be held on November 12 at the Francis-Le Blé stadium, the venue having “suffered damage” following the passage of storm Ciaran, the Brest club announced Friday November 3. The Ligue 2 meeting between US Concarneau and Pau FC, scheduled for Saturday November 4 at the Francis-Le Blé stadium, was “postponed to a later date”also indicated Stade Brestois.

“Following the passage of storm Ciaran over Finistère on the night of November 1 to 2, 2023, the Francis-Le Blé stadium suffered damageexplained the Finistère club in a press release. The roof of the Charles de Foucauld stand was hit in several places. Other damage was also noted within the stadium. Taking these into account, the meeting between Stade Brestois and RC Strasbourg, scheduled for November 12 at 1 p.m., will not be able to be held at the Francis-Le Blé stadium, in accordance with a municipal decree prohibiting access to the venue. until November 15.” Doubts also persist about the L1 match between Lorient and Lens, scheduled for Saturday November 4 at the Moustoir stadium.

The question is now within the remit of the Professional Football League. It will rule on the possible postponement of the match or the reversal of the meeting, which could then be played as planned on November 12, but in Strasbourg. The progress of the work at Francis-Le Blé remains uncertain, because the wind is still blowing and the emergency lies elsewhere: “There is a school behind the stadium, so the priority is to secure any debris that could fly away, especially with classes starting on Monday” explains the Stade Brestois press officer.
