St. Louis Blues | Veteran Ryan Suter Signs to a One-Year Deal

(St. Louis) The St. Louis Blues signed veteran defenseman Ryan Suter to a one-year contract on Thursday.


Blues general manager Doug Armstrong confirmed the news, adding that the 39-year-old defenseman, who spent the last three seasons with the Dallas Stars, will earn a salary of $775,000.

Suter had two goals and 15 assists in 82 regular-season games, and added a goal and three assists in 19 playoff games with the Stars last season.

Suter was selected by the Nashville Predators with the seventh overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, and he played for three teams during his 19-year career in the league, the Minnesota Wild being the other.

The American has 105 goals, 576 assists and 761 penalty minutes in 1,444 regular-season games in his career in the Bettman circuit. He also scored seven goals and had 37 assists in 133 playoff games.

The Wisconsin native ranks first among active defensemen in games played, sixth in points, and 15th in games played.e for goals, third for assists and ninth for penalty minutes.
