(Montreal) An arson attack caused considerable damage to a commercial building in northwest Montreal on Wednesday night.
Posted at 6:12 a.m.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that the disaster and its extinction did not, however, cause any injuries.
Around 2 a.m., a call made to the 911 emergency telephone exchange reported that the fire was in progress at the building located near the intersection of Deslauriers and Benjamin-Hudon streets, in an industrial and commercial sector of the Borough of Saint-Laurent.
After controlling the flames, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SSIM) were able to determine that a Molotov cocktail had been thrown at the building, which caused the fire. They therefore submitted the investigation file to the SPVM arson squad.
Police report that surveillance cameras in the area may have captured footage that will help them solve the case and make arrests.
Investigators will be on scene later in the day to examine the crime scene.
