(Montreal) A fire of arson was extinguished by firefighters at the start of the night, Thursday, in the northwest of Montreal, without causing any injuries.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that around 1:30 a.m., it received a request for assistance for the fire that had just broken out in a commercial establishment on rue McCaffrey, near the intersection of Montée de Liesse, in the borough of Saint-Laurent.
When they arrived at the scene, the police found that firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SSIM) had taken control of the disaster.
A breakage in a window in the facade of the building was noted; soon after, an incendiary object was found inside the facility.
The investigation was therefore entrusted to the SPVM arson squad, which was to send investigators to the scene later in the day to shed light on what happened. By late night, no arrests had been reported.
The damage caused to the establishment located in an industrial sector of Saint-Laurent was minor. Police confirmed that no one was inside the building when the fire occurred.
