(Saint-Jérôme) A young 18-year-old driver lost his life after going off the road on Highway 15, near Saint-Jérôme, in the Laurentians, on Friday evening.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m. on the 43 km ramp of the southbound highway.
According to initial information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the motorist lost control of his vehicle in a curve.
“He would then have rolled over several times to end his race in a ditch which was filled with water,” said SQ spokesperson Camille Savoie.
Resuscitation maneuvers were carried out on the victim, but the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital center.
An investigator was dispatched to the scene of the accident to determine the causes and circumstances. Speed and alcohol would not be involved in this exit from the road, according to the SQ.
