For several days, Chloe Gervais is going through complicated times. The influencer with 300,000 subscribers on Instagram is the victim of a heavy campaign of harassment, after wanting to defend an Instagram account which had just been suspended. The 25-year-old young woman, presented as the companion of Squeezie, is the target of violent insults after attacking @AbregeFrere, a page which is accused of making women invisible. The concept of this TikTok account, which quickly became viral, has actually been debated for several days: it consists, for its creator, to take videos of several minutes, to shorten them into videos of a few seconds.
A priori, nothing misogynistic about it… But for many Internet users, including Chloë Gervais, the creator of the page Abbreviate Brother attacks women more specifically, who are said to be more often mocked than men. On TikTok, the 25-year-old young woman spoke out and attacked the account: “At the very least, you don’t give a damn that your content has normalized telling girls who are doing their little story time and their make-up tutorial to shut their mouths. At most it tells me that you are a big misogynist“. Since then, the videographer known for her beauty/lifestyle tutorials has suffered such a wave of hatred that her darling ended up publicly defending her.
“Get out of there! You’re embarrassing us!”
France’s most followed YouTuber Squeezie called for calmasking his girlfriend’s haters to stop their harassment: “Here, there are 5% of funny guys and the rest, you spend your time harassing, being relentless, being misogynistic, distorting things, spreading shit, and you still believe that we have something damn thing about you” he protested on
He subsequently attacked, with more vehemence, “all the little dogs” who attack his darling and other influencers, such as EmmaCakeUp or EnjoyPhoenix, who have also suffered similar situations: “All you closed-minded little dogs, fuck you! Get rid of this live ! Get off Twitch! We all hate you! You shame us! You are putting us in quagmires! Please get out of there!” The message got through.
