The agreement in principle that has been reached affects only the union members of the branches attached to the Federation of Public Service Employees, affiliated with the CSN. The union organization has members in about fifteen branches of the SQDC network.

The CSN did not want to reveal the percentage of support for the agreement in principle.

The contract is for four years and includes improvements to salaries, working hours, team leader’s bonus and the number of hours for part-time employees, according to the CSN.

The management of the Société québécoise du cannabis has confirmed the agreement in principle and its ratification. She said she was “satisfied with this beneficial agreement for all parties involved”.

Another labor organization, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), affiliated with the FTQ, represents more than 300 employees at the SQDC. Its members in 22 of its branches are already on an indefinite strike.

The negotiations are not broken off; CUPE. expects them to resume shortly.

The employees of the other 47 branches of the SQDC are not unionized.
