Models with a third row of seats are multiplying. And they combine business with pleasure as long as we know how to modulate the space.
According to experts, there are many reasons for the success of utility vehicles with three rows of seats. The rise of blended families to which these “flexible vehicles”, ideal for accommodating a household with variable geometry, are perfectly suited to this is one of them. The other is millennials (generation Y). They are the ones who demand them the most, according to studies carried out by manufacturers. These also reveal that the presence of a third row of seats will now be popular 7 times out of 10 by SUV buyers. Naturally, these cost more, but dealers contacted by The Press confirm that they sell much better.
More numerous than ever
These models, often with an extended wheelbase, all belong to the SUV category. There are more of them than ever. Among the latest multi-seaters to appear on the market or in the process of doing so are the Toyota Grand Highlander, the Mazda CX-90, the Kia EV9 and the Hyundai Santa Fe. And the list is far from exhaustive.
We can logically wonder about the interest of this category when we see the space allocated to the occupants of the “back seats”. It is sometimes as difficult to reach them as to escape from them. And they are rarely welcoming. Moreover, manufacturers recommend reserving them for children. And when all the seats are occupied, the trunk volume is very often the size of a postage stamp. Never mind, these vehicles promise to transport luggage, objects, additional passengers. In short, they have the ability to be able to prepare for any unforeseen event.
